MCH Strategic Data's newest research report provides insights and intelligence on the state of K-12 public education. The 2019 Principals’ Assessment of Education reveals key trends in America's public schools. K-12 principals share their views on progress, concerns, spending priorities and what influences their decisions.

 

Over 800 principals across the country participated in a candid survey that addressed questions from a broad range of topics. These topics include how they are managing safety and security, teacher morale, students with special needs and the impacts of ESSA on their schools and districts.

Key themes in 2019 

  • Principals are concerned about adequate funding and resources.
  • Many schools and districts are implementing new and improved methods for the safety and security of faculty and students.
  • Principals are putting an emphasis on preparing students beyond high school. There is an increased focus on career and technical education as well as preparing students for college.

Each year’s survey provides insights into the current mindset of principals across the country. Recent years have illuminated the struggles with implementing new standards, new technology, and new assessments. This year, principals are more optimistic about technology and adhering to higher standards.
