Look around your desk—do you notice a pen, notepad, or coffee mug with a company logo on it? More than likely, you see the name and logo of an institution promoting their product or service. Incentives and promotional items are excellent for the institutional market, because nearly every institution wants to put their name on something and build their brand awareness.

Hospitals are a great target for these promotional items. This is due to their community outreach activities in health fairs, medical trade shows, and health-related conventions. The key decision makers would include the Purchasing Director, Marketing Director, and Admissions Director. Similarly, Nursing Homes and Community Health Centers also utilize a variety of promotional items to grow their brand awareness, and need to be included in your marketing efforts.

Additionally, another large buyer of incentives and promo items are Schools and School Districts. These educational institutions use bumper stickers, youth-related items, and school bags to improve name recognition. Furthermore, Teachers, Child Care Centers, and Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) are large purchasers of educational items and promotional prizes for classroom needs, fundraisers, and subject-related awards. The primary decision makers are the Purchasing Director, Principal, and PTA/PTO President.

Churches are another prime target market for these incentive offers since they utilize these items in building awareness in their local community. Plus, promotional items are used for Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs, youth groups, and related fundraising efforts. The Pastor or Youth Pastor are the main decision makers in this market.

Finally, focus your efforts to include Government offices. Some local governments control budgets equal to Fortune 1000 businesses. They are large purchasers of business supplies, desk supplies, and pens. The City Clerk/County Clerk is your main decision maker.
