The Kansas City Direct Marketing Association named MCH CEO Peter Long as the association’s 2010 Direct Marketer of the Year. The honor was presented Tuesday, March 23 as part of the annual AMBIT awards ceremony held in Overland Park, Kansas. The award was presented to Long in recognition of his dedication to the field of direct marketing, loyalty to the Kansas City Direct Marketing Association, and a commitment to direct marketing education. He joined MCH as Executive Vice President in 1993 and has served as the company’s CEO since 1996. He has been a member of the KCDMA since the mid 1990s.

In his remarks, Long thanked the KCDMA board and previous Direct Marketer of the Year honorees. “ When I looked at the names of the people who have received this award I realized that many of them have helped MCH as vendors, consultants, and mentors. I came into this business nearly 20 years ago knowing really nothing about direct marketing. I owe much of my success and this recognition to the support of the Kansas City direct marketing community.”

Long began his career in the Information Technology Audit Services group of Coopers and Lybrand. In addition to the KCDMA, he is a member of over 15 professional associations including the Young President’s Organization (YPO), the national Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and Business Executives for National Security (BENS). Peter currently serves on the not-for-profit boards of: The Vision Research Center of Kansas City, The Kansas City Chapter of YPO, and The Freedom Writers Foundation.

In addition to the AMBIT awards ceremony, more than 60 MCH staff members recognized Long’s honor at a reception at the corporate headquarters in Sweet Springs. The event on March 25 was a surprise for Long. “Everything we accomplish is a group effort, so this award belongs to all of you,” Long said to the staff.
